On December 15, 2016, The HUMAN Project showed its commitment to philanthropy and by giving back and serving as a resource to our city and the community that makes THP possible. The HUMAN Project team participated in a community service day at FoodBankNYC in Hunts Point in the Bronx. The Bronx Food Distribution Warehouse distributes food to charities throughout the five boroughs, supplying 64 million meals to New Yorkers in need each day! Food is collected, stored, repacked and distributed every weekday to more than 1,000 community based member programs within the Foodbank network throughout the five boroughs. To date, Food Bank has distributed more than 958 million pounds of food.
THP spent the day at the warehouse repacking food that will be distributed by the FoodBank. The team packed 12,330 lbs of food which translates into 10,000 meals for New Yorkers in need just in time for the holidays! This is only the beginning of many more community service events that the team will host a community service day once each semester.
